Success can make a business comfortable.

When the business is growing, customers are coming in, the numbers look good and things are generally working, it becomes easy to leave certain things alone.

Nobody wants to disturb what is working.

But sometimes, that is exactly when the important questions should be asked.

Why are we still doing this this way?

Is this still working as well as it used to?

What have we accepted simply because it has become normal?

The problem with success is that it can make yesterday’s way of doing things feel like the right way.

Until the business gets bigger.

Then what used to be manageable starts costing more.

Decisions take longer.
People find their own ways of doing things.
Old processes create new problems.

And by then, changing them is much harder.

A successful business should not wait for something to break before asking whether it can be better.

The fact that something worked before is not proof that it is still the best way to do it today.

Sometimes, the most important question for a successful company is simply:

“If we were building this business today, would we do it the same way?”
